Past Chapter Programs:

2007-2008

Several members and one guest met at Luigi's Restaurant on December 4 for the annual Christmas meeting. Following delicious menu selections by the members, Lyn Miller gave a devotional and then we played a variation of "Dirty Santa." It was a fun time and those who were unable to attend missed a great time.

Seven members and five guests learned valuable information when Monte Gartner of ConocoPhillips presented "You Want Me To Do What?" on November 6. He shared information about himself, tips and tricks to put a presentation together that included practicing your speech, what to include in a speech, tips to prepare mentally, how body language is important, proper use of visual aids, and a variety of other tips. A question and answer period followed his presentation.

What a great time 29 ladies had at Tri County Technology Center on October 11 as Gloria Staib-Tedrick provide various ways to enhance our opportunities to move up the corporate ladder and weave our way through the labyrinth of expected and unexpected obstacles that we find along the way.

Several members and guests learned about eye care when John Dick and Melanie Miller presented Advances in Modern Eyecare: Why Vision is Much More than Seeing 20/20 on September 4 in the Phillips Building of the ConocoPhillips Complex. Valuable information was provided and a question/answer time followed the meeting.

A large number of members met in the Adams Building of the COP complex for the August 7 eductional meeting. Vice President Lyn Miller led a question/answer time as members shared their tips and learned answers to many questions regarding software.

2006-2007

The Chapter was dark during July to prepare for the upcoming 2007-2008 Chapter year.

On June 5 Chapter members met at Bogart's Fireside Dining for the Annual Installation of Officers. Incoming A-O President and Chapter Member Jamie Watson CAP installed the officers following a meal and time of fellowship.

Our May 1 meeting found us with Maria Swindell of ElderCare who spoke with us about ElderCare and the programs they offer.

Bartlesville Chapter had a very successful April 3 meeting with Dick Alexander, Incoming President of National Speakers Association of Oklahoma. He spoke to us about "Amazing On Purpose."

Seven members and one visitor meet March 5 at 200 South Dewey for the regular educational meeting. Following the meal our President Jodi McMillin greeted everyone and then introduced Vice President Kim Bell. Kim introduced our speaker Dee Moore from Tri County Technology Center. Dee provided an excellent program on E-mail Etiquette. We learned several do’s and don’ts that will help us as we communicate on our jobs and personally too.

Nine Chapter members and 13 guests met February 6 in the Bartlesville Public Library for the monthly educational meeting. Introduced were the January, February, and March Students of the Month and each spoke briefly about her current and future plans. Following their talks, Barbara Senn of Tri County Technology Center was introduced and she spoke on Women Who Do Too Much. She provided information to help each attendee look at her life and see where changes might be made.

Four members and four visitors met on January 2 at 200 South Dewey to hear Pat Netzer-Willard speak on MUTUAL Miracle. Ms Netzer-Willard is the director of the MUTUAL Girls Club. She talked to us about the programs that are available for local girls and women to meet their needs in an ever changing world.

The December 5 meeting found 10 members at Bogart's Fireside Dining for a time of fun and fellowship. After eating we finalized plans for the December 23 Christmas Wrapping fundraiser at the Mall. Then the fun began - we played "Dirty Santa" with gifts being switched often. What a great time!

The November 7 meeting found four members and six visitors in the upstairs meeting rooms of the Bartlesville Public Library. After President McMillin welcomed all, Kim Bell - Student Education Chair, introduced the November and December Students of the month. Each student shared her current activities and plans for her future. Following their introductions, Jim Fram, President/CEO of the Bartlesville Area Chamber of Commerce presented an excellent program on “Bartlesville’s Possibilities as a Community.”

The October 3 meeting found us in a joint meeting with the CAN network of ConocoPhillips in room 557 of the IT Building of the ConocoPhillips Complex. A total of 51 attendees (8 chapter members, 42 visitors and our speaker) enjoyed a lunch provided by the CAN network. President McMillin introduced the A-O Division Officers and Division President Linda Dizney CAP provided brief information on the benefits of membership in IAAP. Kim Bell, Student Education Chair introduced September Student of the Month (SOM) Corrina Martin and October SOM Amber Blevins who spoke briefly about their reason for attending Tri County Technology Center and their goals following their graduation. Then Vice President Kim Bell introduced Kristine Sexter of KristineSexter.com and WorkWise Productions. Ms. Sexter spoke on the topic “Keys To Unlock Your Potential: Be All You Can Be On Your Job!” We learned that the Key is LEAD – Leadership, Encouragement, Advance, Desire. She provided the top five facets of effective workplace communication, shared that energized enthusiasm is the #1 thing audiences demand from a public speaker, spoke on ways to exude confidence, provided tips on networking, and shared that we are responsible for our individual development – we need to be our own brand!

Seven members and two visitors met September 5 at 200 S. Dewey for the Educational Meeting. Prior to the meeting everyone enjoyed pizza, salad, cookies and sodas. Then it was necessary to get started on the program so Vice President and Program Chair Kim Bell introduced Lois Lewis CPS who presented "Put Your Best Voice Forward." Information was given to help make your voice work for you - not against you.

Several members and visitors met August 1 in the upstairs meeting rooms of the Bartlesville Public Library to hear Becki O'Rear present "Scrapbooking 101." To show that scrapbooking materials can be used for other things, Ms. O'Rear provided sacks filled with material to make a card and she then showed scrapbooking ideas from her book "The ABC's of Scrapbooking."

2005-2006

Five members and one visitor met at 6 p.m. on June 6 at Bogart’s Fireside Dining for the Annual Meeting and Installation of Officers. Prior to the meeting, those attending enjoyed the delicious food and then we had to get busy doing the business. Among other things, we adopted a budget, elected officers, received committee reports, and amended the bylaws, and then PAUSED FOR DESSERT before continuing with the installation of officers. Our Incoming Division President Linda Dizney came over from Arkansas and presided over a very nice installation program using roses.

Six members and seven visitors met at 5:30 p.m. on May 2 at 200 S. Dewey for the Educational Meeting. Following the meal, Dianne Cox CPS introduced the April and May Students of the Month (SOM). Each shared their goals and plans and was presented with their SOM certificate. Sharon Leach, Realtor for McAnaw & Company, then provided a very informative program on “Advice When Buying or Selling Your Home.” She gave all attending a booklet prepared especially for us and filled with excellent information.

Six members and four visitors met at 12 noon on April 4 in the Bartlesville Public Library to listen to Mary Woody, Jane Phillips Hospital Recreational Therapist with emphasis on aquatics, bring an informative program on "Smart Moves - Use It or Lose It." She challenged us to work our core muscles, explained the importance of hydration, and emphasized the effects of stress. The March Student of the Month - Heather Brown - was presented and given her certificate. The chapter was especially pleased to have former A-O Division President Christine Hilderbrand with us for the meeting.

Seven members and three visitors enjoyed food and fellowship prior to the March 7 evening meeting. Gloria Staib-Tedrick, former Corporate Trainer, asked if we were burning the candle at both ends. She went on to share important information on challenges women face in the corporate workplace as well as the work/life issues that midlife and older women face, and a wakeup call regarding global women's issues. All present received a notebook that we filled with information provided by Ms. Staib-Tedrick. Those of you who did not attend missed a great educational program.

Six members and eight visitors met at 5:30 p.m. on February 7, 2006 to share soup and chili prior to the 6 p.m. meeting. Theresa Hampton CPS former member of Bartlesville Chapter and a 25-year employee of the City of Bartlesville brought valuable information on computer upkeep with ways to keep your PC healthy and you happy. As a PC Specialist in the Tech Services Department, she showed us how to perform routine computer maintenance, presented informaton on the basics of the Windows Operating System and shared some Internet basics.

The January 3, 2006, evening meeting found five members gathering at 200 S. Dewey to enjoy soup and hot rolls before Jodi McMillin's presentation about about personal safety. Deputy Kim Lopez of the Cleveland County Sheriff's Department was to bring the lesson, but she was unable to attend. Jodi stepped in and gave an excellent program on having a plan for personal, home, and automobile safety. Jodi also shared extra tips and provided self-defense techniquest too.

Eight members enjoyed a pot luck dinner at the home of Lois Lewis on December 6. Everyone enjoyed playing "Dirty Santa" with the gifts being exchanged several times. Those unable to attend certainly missed a good time.

The Chapter canceled the November 1 meeting since a community-wide seminar was planned for November 4. Kristine Sexter of Workwise Productions presented the seminar that was entitled "RoadMap to Success." Ms. Sexter presented valuable information to attendees with great energy and humor. She provided a full six-hour seminar with handouts and asked each of us what we expected from the seminar - and then she provided the information.

Four members and seven visitors attended the October 4 Open House held at the Voice of the Martyrs Annex at 5:30 p.m. Four Division Officers brought information regarding International and Division IAAP and President Watson spoke of the benefits of belonging to the local Chapter. The September and October Students of the Month were introduced.

Seven members attended the September 6 educational meeting held at 12 noon in the Jane Phillips Society Clubroom. Lois Lewis brought an interesting program on Internet Safety and how it affects both adults and our youth.

Five members and one visitor attended the August 2 meeting when Diana Purser brought informaton about Cheating In Schools and How It Affects The Workplace.

Six members met in the evening July 14 in the home of Lois Lewis for strategic planning for the upcoming year.

2004-2005

President Watson's 2005 A-O Division Annual Meeting report is available for your information.

On June 7 eight members met at Taste of Europe for the Annual Installation of Officers. Prior to the election, a special guest "Deborah" a prophetess and first woman judge of Israel paid a visit to the members. After the installation, all enjoyed a time of fellowship.

The May 31 Annual Business meeting was very busy with committee reports, discussion and vote on Chapter bylaw revisions, discussion on Division and International Bylaws, electing delegates/alternate delegates to Division and International, and other business.

Eight members and three guests enjoyed a meal from Souper Deli preceding the May 3, 2005, educational meeting at Voice of the Martyrs Annex. Peggy Boyce, former Jane Phillips Hospice Volunteer Coordinator and Bereavement Counselor, talked with us about ways caregivers can take care of themselves while they are doing all that is necessary to care for their loved one. Also discussed was the value of allowing hospice to help the terminally ill make their latter days comfortable. She also explained that there are times hospice releases their patients due to remission.

At the April 26 Board/Business meeting President Watson presented members with a Member of the Year certificate along with a gift for their work this year. Lois Lewis received a Sterling's gift certificate for the extra effort she has given to the Chapter this year.

Eight members attended the April 27 APW video conference held on the ConocoPhillips complex. People attending were invited to place their name in for a drawing for two IAAP Bartlesville Chapter memberships. Four women took advantage of the opportunity for a free one year membership. The drawing was held on May 3.

Donna Wood CPS brought information on Identity Fraud to the membership at the April 5 educational meeting. Handouts were provided.

Stephen Colaw, VP and Trust Officer Arvest Bank, brought valuable information on estate planning at the March 8 educational meeting. In his program entitled "Tools In Your Shed for Estate Planning" we learned about guardianship, power and durable power of attorney, Wills, Trusts, Advance Medical Directives, and Living Wills. Information on all of these was provided for the attendees.

Jim Spears of Jane Phillips Hospice brought an interesting program on Handling Grief at the February 1 educational meeting at Voice of the Martys. We learned that there are all kinds of grief and also ways to get through them.

Chapter members learned a little more about parliamentary procedures when Lois Lewis CPS brought a program on "What Does Robert's Say?" at the January 4, 2005 educational meeting.

Chapter Members enjoyed an evening of fun and fellowing with Erin Conley on December 7. "Dirty Santa" was enjoyed by all as gifts were exchanged.

Bill Taylor and Allyson Linehan attended the November meeting and brought information on volunteering in the community and how it helped their careers. Three new members were added.

The A-O Division Officers presented a successful IMPACT meeting on October 12 entitled IMPACT IAAP: Advance...Build...Communicate... which included a PowerPoint presentation giving the history of IAAP and the advantages of becoming a member of the organization. President Watson gave a brief history of Bartlesville Chapter and provided informational packets for each guest.

Donna Wood CPS chapter delegate, presented an informative report of her trip to the International Convention and Educational Forum in Washington DC at the September 2004 meeting. The chapter voted to handle all chapter business at the monthly board meeting.


Student Education Information:

This committee was formed in the 2001-2002 IAAP year to assist students working toward a business degree by awarding a $250 scholarship to a student selected from Student of the Month (SOM) recipients chosen during the school year.

The committee approached Bartlesville High School's business department and worked with the business instructors to set up the program. Nine SOMs (Krystal Anderson, Jennifer Askew, Brice King, Ashley Lewis, Kristen Maxwell, Quinn Ried, Lance Scrogin, John Smithson, Rachel Zilner) were chosen and John Smithson was awarded the $250 scholarship and certificate at the May Awards Assembly. An article along with a picture was provided for publication to the local newspaper for each event during the year. (Lois Lewis CPS Chair, Dianne Cox CPS, Committee Member)

The program continued in the 2002-2003 school year but it took us to Tri County Technology Center (TCTC) where we worked with adult business students. A SOM certificate and a $10 gasoline card were again provided to each SOM (Rebecca Barham, Dana Baughman, Teresa DuBose, Edie Edwards, James Hickey, Elaine Ramos, Michelle Shidler, Melody Smith, Elizabeth Waller). The committee attended the TCTC Awards Assembly and presented Edie Edwards with the $250 scholarship and certificate. (Dianne Cox CPS Chair, Lois Lewis CPS and Diane Ogden, Committee Members)

Minor changes were incorporated in the program for the 2003-2004 school year. Along with a SOM certificate and the meal, the SOM was given the opportunity to become a “student” member of Bartlesville Chapter. There were 10 SOMs (Mary Kay Bauman, Tanya Doherty, Crystal Glenn, Lacy Joslin, Tasha Odom, Annette Parker, Victor Potter, Jenafer Reid, Alyson Tingler, Tania Underwood) during the year. The committee attended the TCTC Awards Assembly and presented Victor Potter with the $250 scholarship and certificate. Four SOMs chose to become members of Bartlesville Chapter. The following students were selected as Students of the Month: Dawn McNeil, Roberta Grein, Linda Wright, Charla Fasking, Mary Ernest, Amanda Stillwell, Crystal Vick, Debra Denny and Jonnie Larsen. The committee attended the May 10 TCTC Awards Assembly and presented Roberta Grein with the $250 scholarship and certificate. Two SOMs chose to become members of Bartlesville Chapter. The program continued at TCTC for the 2005-2006 school year. The following students were selected as Students of the Month: Jeri Devitt, Sirena Frankes, Tammy White, Michelle Hightower, JoAnn Gillispie, Heidi Sanders, Heather Brown-Gibson, Sarah Hood and Angela Bonham. The committee attended the May 8 TCTC Awards Assembly and presented Jeri Devitt with the $250 scholarship and certificate. Two SOMs (Jeri Devitt and JoAnn Gillispie) chose to become members of Bartlesville Chapter. (Kim Bell Chair, Dianne Cox CPS and Karen Ware, Committee Members)

The program continued at TCTC for the 2006-2007 school year. The following students were selected as Students of the Month: President Jodi McMillin and Secretary Lois Lewis CPS attended the May 8 TCTC Awards Assembly and presented name with the $250 scholarship and certificate. Due to a lack of business participants at Tri County Technology Center, this committee was discontinued for the 2007-2008 school term.

(2007) Congratulations are in order for members who passed the November certification exam and received their CPS and CAP certifications. Check this out - Amy Swindell CPS, Jodi McMillin CPS and Brenda Matlock CPS CAP. These ladies along with Lisa Hawkins worked very hard and all are to be congratulated on this great achievement.

Brenda Mattox was recently promoted to a new position at The Voice of the Martyrs. Congratulations Brenda!

Dianne Cox CPS is temporarily moving to the St. Louis area to become a "nanny" for her new granddaughter when she arrives in late January. Dianne has five grandsons and this is her first granddaughter so she is enjoying purchasing pink and frilly things for her.

Congratulations to new grandma Lisa Hawkins. Her granddaughter - Emyssa Grace - was born November 27 at 5:47 p.m. This little bundle of joy weighted 7 lb. 15 oz. and is 20" long. A "potential member" in about 20 years.

Lois Lewis CPS became a great grandmother on April 17. Addison Brooke Denbow was born in Tennessee, was 17" long and weighed 6 lb. 8 oz. Lois thinks she is "beautiful."

Lois Lewis CPS rejoined the work force in March. She is currently working as an Administrative Assistant at Sequoyah Enterprises, Inc.

Dianne Cox CPS recently retired from Knightsbridge and enjoys retirement.

Shirley Grimmett CPS recently changed jobs.

Congratulations to JoAnn Gillispie. August 1 she became the office manager at the MUTUAL Girls' Club.

Nancy Hulse has a new position with the Bartlesville Chamber of Commerce. She is now the Executive Director Bartlesville Area Convention and Visitors Bureau. Congratulations Nancy!

Donna Wood CPS and her husband Curtis transferred to Houston. Donna, we miss you!

Lois Lewis CPS has joined WorkWise Productions and KristineSexter.com as Marketing Director. Lois retired from Phillips Petroleum Company in December 2001 and has enjoyed retirement. This is a new venture for her.

Jeri Devitt September Student of the Month has joined Bartlesville Chapter. It is always great to have one of the students join and participate. She is serving as Chapter Historian.

(2005)

Nancy Hulse has changed positions at the Chamber of Commerce. She is now Director of Operations. Congratulations Nancy.

Lyn Miller returned from the International Convention in Denver excited about IAAP and shared her experience with the members.

Congratulation to April Roe and her family. Twin girls (Kaitlyn-5.1 lbs, 17" long and Kristin-5.4 lbs, 18-1/2" long) were born March 9, 2005 at St. John Hospital, Tulsa. They were seven weeks early but after a stay in the hospital they joined sister Ashlee and brother Alex at home. Mom April has returned to work at ConocoPhillips.

Erin Conley and her husband are expecting their first child in the fall of 2005. Congratulations Erin.

Nancy Hulse has reinstated as a member and Kathy Leeper and Roberta Grein are welcomed as new members during November 2004.

Donna Wood CPS has changed positions at ConocoPhillips. Donna moved November 1 to HR and is a Personnel Administration Representative in the Leverage Service Center. Congratulations Donna!!!

Donna Wood CPS won an airline ticket and registration to the International Convention and Education Forum in Washington at the A-O Division Meeting this spring. Donna attended the convention and brought a report of her adventures to the chapter members at the September meeting.

At the April 21, 2004 Administrative Professionals Day AMA/IAAP video seminar held at the ConocoPhillips (COP) Complex, April Roe, a new member, was the recipient of the secretarial handbook door prize. Linda Bogie, a contract employee for COP, was the winner of the membership door prize provided by our Chapter. Linda will be letting us know her plans at a later date.
